FAT PURSUIT WORKSHOP
IS A 3 DAY CAMP

Fat Pursuit Workshop is meant to give participants taking part in the Fat Pursuit (but not limited to those participants) an opportunity to test gear, acclimate to the environment and elevation and learn additional winter travel cycling tips and tricks. We will also give you a little more insight into the Fat Pursuit itself and ride some of the course!

Considering this is a 3-day camp and prior to the Fat Pursuit, we will be concentrating on “setting yourself up for success” when it comes to an event. We will touch base on many winter expedition traveling aspects but spend most of our time discussing, practicing and learning things we feel are most important to get to the finish line of an event where efficient travel and taking care of yourself becomes most important for one’s success.

This is an incredible way to boost your confidence and give yourself a "shake down" before the Fat Pursuit if you are participating in it!

WHAT WILL

BE PROVIDED

  • Professional instruction from accomplished winter cycling guides.

The structure of the camp is to sleep outside both nights but the base camp is available as a safety net if something was to go wrong or if you’re just not comfortable for one reason or another and want to sleep indoors.

WHAT WILL NOT

BE PROVIDED

Bikes and Equipment

  • A suggested gear list will be provided upon registration but also make your own decisions on what you want to bring. We will be discussing clothing during theory session on Day 1. Equipment and gear discussion comes up naturally throughout the camp.

Lodging Before and After

  • Sawtelle Mountain Resort is our lodging partner.

There are many places to stay in Island Park now a days. Several other hotels, lots of cabins and VRBO's.

  • During the camp you will be sleeping outside with knowing the comfort of warmth is near by in case of an emergency. Remember the purpose of the camp is to learn at, possibly do things for the first time and hopefully get you comfortable for your upcoming Fat Pursuit! With that said we may challenge you in some cases but here to help and guide you.

Breakfast, Lunch, and Trail Snacks

  • Using your stove and boiling water is a priceless winter discipline. We expect you to do this each morning and is a great way to start your day, making your breakfast and/or cup of coffee.

  • We will stop and take a break each day to have lunch that we provide.

  • Bring trail snacks and others if you have a

    special diet.
